Melangell and the hare
I have produced this embroidery in response to a theme of Legend. I chose Melangell and the hare which is a Welsh legend. It definitely took me out of my comfort zone which is probably a good thing.

Silk Museum, Macclesfield
Inspired by India
The Silk Museum, 17 June-8 September 2017
Celebrating UK/India year of culture, artist Nikki Parmenter has worked with local community groups and schools to illustrate the colour and imagery of the countries’ creative relationship.
The exhibition also explores the work of Macclesfield’s Thomas Wardle who helped teach artist William Morris about natural dyes – both men’s work being ‘inspired by India’. Nikki’s centrepiece is the ‘Silk Peacock’, the national bird of India, which incorporates Indian symbolism, Wardle’s designs and Morris’ patterns. We invite you to join us and design your own peacock feather to add to the artwork Macclesfield.

Lorna Knight
Lorna Knight gave us a talk about dress making techniques. She shared lots of tricks of the trade with us. We now know how to make a much more professional finish to any dress making projects we may attempt. She explained about how linings are really important in giving a really good finish. She passed around lots of examples for us to have a close look at how she achieved such perfect looking finishes.
She did all this in a very easy going way and it was a super afternoon.
It was lovely to welcome 2 visitors and 2 new members.
