Change of date for the workshop 

Unfortunately, we have had to change the date of Lyn Rochester’s workshop.

The new date is 

Tuesday 8 th October 2019

9-30 am - 2-30pm

£15 for the day.

If you were unable to make the first date but now find you can make the new date please contact Mary and she will book you a place. 

Linus Quilts

We will be collecting the Linus Quilts at the October meeting. However, if yours is not quite complete we will take it at a later meeting. They will be gratefully received for children in need.

Two Doors Studio, Alsager

Ceramics Festival Studio Potters Stalls, Demonstrations, and more Sept Workshops Five workshop sessions to choose from! Pop Up Shops Middle Wich Crafts, Naomi Bakes Synth Group New Community Group

Our fourth annual Ceramics Festival ! Market & Exhibition.  Saturday 14th September 10am-4pm There will be Studio Potters selling their own ware, a chance to try your hand at making pots & clay work, and an exhibition of the best pottery & ceramics from around our region.  And Naomi Bakes will be holding one of her delicious Cafes. The Exhibition will then continue for two weeks up until the 5th October. Your chance to still see it if you couldn't come on the Saturday or to get a closer look again if you did.

Today’s Meeting

We really enjoyed today’s meeting with Sue Jones . She patiently guided us through finishing off our tea lights.

I think you will agree the finished work was really lovely.

Workshop

Lyn Rochester will be teaching embroidery techniques at a workshop in October. Tomorrow she will be bringing examples of the techniques she will be doing to show us.

I did a super workshop  with her which consisted of layering sheer fabrics and embroidering a garden. I have since adapted the technique to my own way of working. It’s lovely to keep learning and sharing.

Don’t forget lots of tea and biscuit breaks too and free fun !

Next Meeting

Our next meeting will be held at Alsager Library, Alsager.

Tuesday 3rd of September, 2019

We will be welcoming back Sue Jones. Sue will be teaching us how to assemble our tea lights.

We have just heard that Alsager Library are having the toilets refurbished which will take all of September. They are providing port a loos but we can also use the ones in the Civic Centre.

Don't forget your stitched piece for the  tea lanterns on Tuesday. Please remove the tacking threads and give it a good press.

Dior Exhibition at the V and A

I was very fortunate to be able to get a ticket for the sensational exhibition at the V and A. It was truly magnificent and probably the best exhibition I have viewed in a very long time.

The exhibition took us through the life of Christian Dior and his fine collections of fashion. The gowns and other clothes were totally hand- stitched and embellished. I have taken some photographs for you to get an idea of their beauty.

After his death his successors have put their own stamp onto the collections.

I have already been to the Mary Quant Exhibition and it was very enjoyable. Mary Quant design ideas are still being copied in the fashion world today.

We all wish we could squeeze into those tiny clothes today.
