Take Three 7th March

The March meeting is a hands-on and three of our members have agreed to have a table showing you a different make or technique. Please bring with you your usual basic sewing kit and be prepared to try one, two or three of the things on offer.

Eileen will show you how to make the bird decoration.

Judith has the charts for this Blackwork coaster. You can make it as simple or intricate as you like, using stranded cottons in various colours (it doesn’t have to be all black despite the name).

Lynn will show you how to make a circular weaving that you can then embroider.

I have a few rings but if you have a ring (the inside of an embroidery ring where the outer is broken or not in use is ideal) and any textured or interesting wool (only small amounts needed) please bring them along.

Wonderful Workshop

I’m running out of superlatives to describe Jennifer Collier’s work and I certainly can’t fault her workshop. We were soon busy waxing old papers and teabags, melting plastics and fusing everything together to make the textiles we would need to make our glove. We all used the same methods and materials but each of our gloves were individual and personalised. Here are a few works in progress.

The roundup at the end of the day.

Thanks Jennifer for a most enjoyable day.

Jennifer Collier

Fantastic talk by Jennifer Collier showing her progression from graduation to a multi faceted occupation. Lots of fabulous examples of her work on display. Looking forward to her workshop on Saturday to learn some of her techniques.

Library meeting room

Just to let everyone know, there is no heating in the library at the moment. Please wrap up in an extra layer for today’s meeting.
