Remembering a much loved member

Sadly, Margaret Horton a much loved member of Alsager Creative Stitchers has passed away. She will be greatly missed by everyone. She worked hard to make ACS the successful group it has become. Margaret and Sheila planned the programme and booked speakers besides contributing to the group in many other ways.

Margaret was a wonderful textile artist. Her designs were always lively and interesting. She dyed and printed her own fabrics before embellishing them. She was a keen patch worker. She was very knowledgeable about textile artists. She was always willing to share her knowledge with everyone.

She will be remembered as a kind person with a good sense of humour. She always had a lovely smile for everyone. We will miss her very much.

I have put together some images of Margaret’s work for you to enjoy.

New work

I hope everyone is well and keeping busy. Some people are finding it hard to keep motivated ( me included) I’ve got around the problem by making small things like hand- stitched Birthday cards.

Hopefully, in a few months we may be able to meet up again.

Some people are still making Linus quilts so it is an ongoing project if you are interested.

Sheila and Mary have made these quilts recently.

Margaret has made these beautiful stag picture and some fun experimental labels.

I’ve been experimenting with painting on cotton fabric with diluted acrylic paint. As long as the paint is quite thin it works well.

Before Rosemary’s recent death she made this Linus quilt. Rosemary loved owls.

Mary has made this super landscape which is a mini quilt.I love the variety of fabrics and the field with the button flowers.

My latest contribution is a book mark. Easy to make and a super quick ,small gift to put in a Birthday card.

Hilda has made this lovely elephant quilt for a new baby in the family.

Sheila has finished this lovely quilt for the Linus project.

We remember

 We remember Rosemary Watson

Unfortunately, 2021 started with some very sad news for Alsager Creative Stitchers. We were all so sorry to hear about Rosemary’s death. It came as such a shock to all of us. She will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her. She was a founding member of Alsager Creative Stitchers and contributed her enthusiasm and expertise to the group. She was very generous with her time and was always willing to help

She will be remembered by us for her lovely smile and great stitching skills. Even when she was poorly she was making Linus Quilts and knitting for charity.

She was known in the local community for her beautiful embroidered panels at St Peter’s Church, Elworth, Sandbach.

We will not forget Rosemary. She was a dear friend to many of us.

In 2019 she gave a talk about her work at our group. I think everyone would like to be reminded of that day.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

I’m sure we are all hoping 2021 will be a much better year for all of us. Hopefully, we can meet up again next  year.

In the meantime here’s some of our Christmas themed work.
